  13. FS-PRO requires a minimum of 1.7 mbytes of fixed disk space on
  14. any logical drive labeled C to H. A minimum of 540 kbytes of RAM
  15. is required and, it is suggested that you terminate any RAM-RESIDENT
  16. software before using FS-PRO. We apologize to those who require
  17. partitions beyond H drive. Perhaps, you can duplicate the directories
  18. and move files after the install process is complete.

  20. In addition to a fixed drive, you must have a CGA, EGA or VGA video
  21. driver. FS-PRO will NOT operate very well in monochrome. Be sure that
  22. your CONFIG.SYS file is set up properly for your XT or AT files and
  23. buffers and that you include an ANSI.SYS driver and mouse, if
  24. necessary.

  37. FS-PRO is shipped on five, 5 1/4", 360 Kbyte, floppy disks labeled
  38. SYSTEM DISK #1 of 5 and so on. We realize that many IBM PS/2 users
  39. may only have a high density 3" diskette drive. But, 5 1/4" drives
  40. are still in the majority and so we chose to use this media.
  41.  
  42. However, for those who would like to copy all of the EXEcutable
  43. FS-PRO files onto a single 3" HD diskette, you may do so. During
  44. the INSTALL process just press <C>ontinue when the prompt changes
  45. from disk #1 through #5. All the we require is that we find the
  46. proper EXEcutable file when we search for it prior to transferring
  47. them to your fixed drive. It doesn't matter if they are on 5 disks
  48. or a single HD diskette. You do not need to copy the following
  49. system files to the 3" diskette unless you wish. Otherwise, all
  50. of the remaining files will need to be copied to the diskette.

  84. FS-PRO is extremely "path" sensitive. In order to help eliminate
  85. the possibility of installation mistakes, we have chosen to use
  86. an automatic INSTALLATION utility that "creates" the proper sub-
  87. directories in which to store the FS-PRO system files. After they
  88. are "created" we copy the proper files to their proper directory.
  89. This is not unlike many large and complex software systems that
  90. require multiple subdirectories to contain seperate file types.
  91.  
  92. Another feature that we have chosen to use is automatic unpacking
  93. of compressed files. This eliminates the need for a user to have
  94. the appropriate file compression utility and reduces the total
  95. disk space requirements to ship FS-PRO.
  96.  
  97. Occassionally, experts may opt to install FS-PRO using traditional
  98. command line statements and "name" their own directory paths. This
  99. is possible but, we highly recommend against it; even for experts.
  100. Before providing FREE VOICE SUPPORT, you will be asked if you used
  101. this FS-PRO INSTALLATION UTILITY or if you attempted to install by
  102. DOS command line statements.

  108. This installation utility will create the following directories on
  109. the fixed drive that you select.

  119. If you have a previous version of FS-PRO, you will be prompted to
  120. use the FSPREP feature to prepare your drive for the new version.
  121. This will delete all of the files in these directories and allow you
  122. to install the new version. Please, backup any special airport or
  123. aircraft data base files before using FSPREP. This preparation
  124. feature will NOT delete any files (MODE or otherwise) that are
  125. located in your Microsoft Flight Simulator directory. It ONLY
  126. removes "old" FS-PRO files from those directories listed above.

  132. FS-PRO uses an INDEXED data base to search for specific AIRPORT and
  133. AIRCRAFT files. We provide approximately 1200 airport entries for
  134. all scenery disks and extract it during the install process.

  136. However, since we do NOT provide a similar data base for the AIRCRAFT
  137. types (you enter your own up to 9,999) we must format a NEW one so
  138. that you may begin entering your own. Therefore, you can observe the
  139. process as we format \FSP\AIRCRAFT and proceed to the next step.

  145. Following the installation, we will automatically "run" FS-PRO so that
  146. you may complete the installation by using the SETUP utility provided.
  147. Be certain to read the FS-PRO "Information" files which will point you
  148. to the proper setup utility and procedures.

  150. Since we use a small .BAT file (INSTALL.BAT) to "run" FSPI.EXE, when
  151. you finally EXIT to DOS from the FS-PRO menu, DOS will try to locate
  152. INSTALL.BAT to complete the "batch" execution. Either, replace the
  153. System Disk #1 of 5 into the drive you selected, or type CTRL-C to
  154. terminate the BATCH command.

  156. Please, remember to read the documentation provided on System Disk
  157. #5 of 5. It is normal DOS text and can also be printed. Also, most
  158. modules are equipped with INFORMATION screens similar to this.

  161. the commercial version which includes many more unique features. It
  162. will also work with either version 3 or 4 of Microsoft's Flight
  163. Simulator program and is noiseless. Serious PC pilots, worldwide, are
